DIY Spring Market Sign
Creating a charming wood sign is the perfect way to usher in the warmth and rejuvenation of the spring season into your home. DIY SPRING MARKET SIGN
What You'll Need:
- Unfinished Wood Block, size 4" x 4" (I found some on Amazon here)
- Mod Podge
- Brown Acrylic Paint
- Foam Brush
- Printable Image (create your own or purchase on Etsy)
- Scissors
- Sandpaper (medium-grit)
Instructions:
Step 1: Prep Your Wood Block
Begin by sanding down your wood block to ensure a smooth surface. Wipe off any dust with a clean cloth to prepare for the stain application.
Step 2: Stain Your Wood Block
Stain your wood block with watered down brown acrylic paint and wipe off any excess.
Step 3: Print Your Image
Print your image on regular printer paper and cut out, making sure it fits the dimensions of your wood block (4" x 4").
Step 4: Apply Mod Podge
Using your foam brush, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the surface of your wood block. Be sure to cover the entire area evenly.
Step 5: Place Your Image
Carefully place your printed image on top of the Mod Podge-coated wood. Smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles with your fingers or a credit card to ensure it lies flat and adheres well.
Step 7: Finishing Touches
After the image is down and the Mod Podge has completely dried, I take a medium grit sandpaper and sand off any excess paper. I also distress around the edges to let that stain from step 2 show through! You can distress as much or as little as you want.
And there you have it—a delightful 4" by 4" wood sign that says "Welcome to the Spring Market," ready to add a touch of freshness and cheer to your home decor!
